Gulf International Bank and Tawkilat Premium are latest brands to sign up to support one of the biggest weeks of women’s sport in the Kingdom

  • Gulf International Bank (GIB) & Tawkilat sign as partners for Aramco Saudi Ladies International and Aramco Team Series – Jeddah

  • Saudi Golf CEO: “Growing commercial interest represents a milestone moment for women’s sport in the Kingdom.”

November 3, 2021: Gulf International Bank – Saudi Arabia (GIB) and Al Tawkilat Premium have been announced today as the Official Banking and Automotive partners respectively for the Aramco Saudi Ladies International (Nov 4-7) and Aramco Team Series – Jeddah (Nov 10-12), which take place over the next 10 days at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City.

Talking at the unveiling of two more premium partners, CEO and Deputy Chairman of both Golf Saudi and the Saudi Golf Federation, Majed Al Sorour, said: “Following the success of the inaugural Aramco Saudi Ladies International last September, we’ve seen commercial inquiries and interest grow significantly over the last 12 months, which is a powerful endorsement of our vision to grow golf across the Kingdom and make it accessible and enjoyable to all men, women and children.”

“We know hosting these innovative tournaments not only attracts the world’s best players and inspires a new generation of golfers, but what’s also now clear is the level of corporate appetite to get involved and be a part of it. That’s why I believe these two new partner announcements represent a milestone moment for not just golf but women’s sport in the Kingdom.”

Both the GIB and Tawkilat brands will be highly visible when the tournaments tee off later this week, benefiting from a global broadcast feed that will be seen in more than 60 countries as well as having access to exclusive event hospitality, player meet and greets and content creation opportunities.

Commenting on the partnership, Group CEO of GIB, Abdulaziz Al-Helaissi, said: “We are delighted to expand our support for the sport of golf in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through these two exciting tournaments. We’re especially pleased to partner with and support an inaugural tournament for ladies, which aligns with GIB’s own commitment not only to promoting the development of sport in the Kingdom, in line with the goals and diversification mandated by Vision 2030, but also to giving women greater platforms to excel in all areas - from business through to sport.”

Sheikh Mohammed Abduljawad, CEO of Al Tawkilat, one of the leading Saudi automotive companies, highlighted the appeal of the women’s back-to-back tournaments by saying: “Golf in Saudi Arabia has become a source of inspiration in the new and exceptional era for Saudi sport, which has demonstrated its high capabilities and great potential in hosting some of the most prominent sporting events on a global level. This is in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030, where great attention is paid to sports and athletes, especially towards women’s participation in sport. Women’s participation in sport is seen as one of the most important contributions towards advancement on various economic, tourism, cultural, as well as social levels. This is in line with Al Tawkilat’s own vision and therefore we are very proud to sponsor these international golf tournaments in Saudi Arabia”.

The Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by Public Investment Fund made history last year as the first professional women’s sport event to be staged in Saudi Arabia.  The individual event helped re-start the LET season which had come to a complete halt during COVID-19 and impacted its professional players.  The Aramco Team Series – Jeddah follows the success of Aramco Team Series tournaments in London, Spain and the USA – which have shined a light on the challenges of international women’s sport during the pandemic as well as addressing gender equality in golf.

Tickets for both tournaments at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City are available now, free of charge.
